INDEPENDENT ACADEMIC CONSULTANT

ABOUT MEI studied psychology and sociology at the University of Western Ontario (BA ’86), nursing at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (BAAN ’90), nursing science at the University of Toronto (MSc ‘94), and then went on to study public health sciences, specifically social and behavioural health sciences, at the University of Toronto (PhD ’24). My doctoral supervisor was Professor Rebecca Renwick. After obtaining my PhD, I became an independent academic consultant.RESEARCH & ACTIVE SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY OVERVIEWThroughout my career, I have worked in a multitude of pediatric clinical practice areas, on numerous multidisciplinary nursing and public health research projects, as well as in clinical education management administration and graduate level education in academic settings within North America. In my doctoral thesis, I developed a grounded theory about the quest for health information resources among young people with lifelong physical disabilities as they transitioned from pediatric to adult healthcare. I have also mentored health promotion graduate students at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and taught in the master’s program at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, both at the University of Toronto. As a result of my North American cross-institutional consortia and alliance work, I am involved in: healthcare provision for people with disabilities; healthcare education curricula revisions for the inclusion of competent care for people with disabilities; transition from pediatric to adult healthcare for young people with disabilities; disability policy; health equity including digital health equity and accessibility to credible resources; and the responsible use of A I. I undertake projects that address my unique interconnections of pediatric nursing, public health sciences, disability, transition from pediatric to adult healthcare, qualitative research methodologies, and critical appraisal of qualitative research resources.I strive to leverage my strengths in practice, research, administration and education using a collaborative approach to foster healthcare change makers poised to make a difference in the lived experiences of people with disabilities and in society at large.Email: [email protected]All materials - Copyright 2026 Beth Rossen
